The University of Amikom Yogyakarta receives international recognition through its animated films, collaborating with MSV Studio. The university becomes the only university in Indonesia awarded the top 50 WURI 2021.
Based on the official release from World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI), the University of Amikom Yogyakarta and MSV Studio rank 33 worldwide for the Industrial Application category. The announcement of the 2021 WURI Ranking was broadcast through a video conference on June 10, 2021.
WURI or World’s Universities with Real Impact is an international university ranking system assessing higher education institutions based on their actual contribution to society at large, specifically on creative and innovative approaches to research and innovation.
There are five categories in WURI 2021: Industrial Application, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Ethical Value, Student Mobility and Openness, and Crisis Management.
The University of Amikom Yogyakarta, through its business unit, PT MSV Sinema (MSV Studio), was assessed by the WURI 2021. Each applicant has to meet three of the following criteria:
- How innovative is it?
- Could these innovations be implemented into tangible results?
- How fast and intensive the impact of the innovation product is?
In the case of the Industrial Application category, direct implementation of the product in the industry will give more value than just proposing research and learning in traditional methods.
