Amikom University Yogyakarta Participates in General Assembly Silvanus Project in Greece

Two postgraduate lecturers from Amikom, Prof. Dr. Kusrini, M. Kom and Dr. Arief Setyanto, S.Si, M.T. represented Amikom University Yogyakarta at the General Assembly Silvanus Project held at KEMEA (Kentro Meleton Asfaleias – The Center for Security Studies) Athens, Greece on November 29 – December 1, 2022.

Silvanus is an international consortium that seeks solutions related to forest fire threats and increasing forest resilience to climate change. The SILVANUS project is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Green Deal program and coordinated by Università Telematica Pegaso. The project will be implemented over a period of 42 months and will be attended by 49 partners from the European Union, Brazil, Indonesia, and Australia, with a total budget of €23 million.

In this international project involving 49 partners from 18 countries, Amikom University was appointed as the Leader Work Package (WP) 6. In addition, Amikom University is also part of WP 1, WP 2, WP 5, WP 7 , WP 8, WP 9 and WP 10.

Researchers who are members of SILVANUS will help the government monitor forest resources efficiently, evaluate biodiversity, generate more accurate indicators of fire risk, and promote safety rules for local communities affected by socializing increasing public awareness of forest fires. On this occasion, Kusrini and Arief Setyanto presented the progress that has been made by Amikom University Yogyakarta for more than 1 year after the project started and conveyed some of the findings from the research.

During this Silvanus Project, the Amikom Silvanus Team with an IT background collaborated with many colleagues and partners from various fields, together looking for solutions from various perspectives in finding the best solution to the forest fire problem.
